Terms of Service
Effective date: April 17, 2026
These terms govern your use of JobAnvil, a desktop application published by JobAnvil LLC ("we", "us"). By installing or using JobAnvil, you agree to these terms.
1. License and Access Tiers
JobAnvil is licensed, not sold. Access is governed by the tier you are on:
- Trial: New installs receive a 7-day full-access trial of Managed AI, beginning on the date of your first pipeline run. The trial ends when either of the following occurs, whichever comes first: (a) 7 calendar days have elapsed since your first run, or (b) the trial Managed AI token budget is exhausted. The token budget is shown in-app and is configured server-side. No payment is required during the trial. At the end of the trial period, access reverts to the Free tier unless you activate a license key.
- Free: After the trial expires, you may continue using JobAnvil at no cost with limited access: up to 5 pipeline runs per rolling 7-day window. RSS/Atom feeds, career board scraping, and the browser extension remain available on the Free tier. Free tier users must supply their own AI API key (BYOK) — Managed AI requires a subscription.
- Spark: Weekly subscription. Adds Managed AI (no API key required) and unlimited pipeline runs. Billed weekly through Lemon Squeezy.
- Crucible: Monthly subscription. Same as Spark, billed monthly.
- Astroloy: Semi-annual subscription. Same as Spark and Crucible, billed every six months at a discounted rate.
All license keys are for individual use and activate on one device at a time. Sharing a license key across multiple devices or users is not permitted and may result in revocation. Your subscription remains active as long as payments are current and your license key is valid.
Managed AI usage caps (subscription tiers): Each paid tier includes a Managed AI budget measured in "JobAnvil Tokens" (JT) that covers AI costs for the billing period. When your usage crosses the throttle threshold for your tier (the first cap), subsequent runs continue but route through a smaller, lower-cost AI model — pipeline quality is reduced but runs still complete. When your usage crosses the block threshold (the second cap), Managed AI runs are blocked until your next billing period begins. There are no overage charges; caps are hard, not metered. Specific budget values are shown in-app and may be adjusted from time to time without requiring a new version install. BYOK users have no JobAnvil-side caps — your own provider's billing applies.
2. Billing and Subscriptions
Subscription payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our payment processor. By purchasing a subscription, you agree to Lemon Squeezy's terms of service in addition to these terms.
- Material subscription terms (disclosed before checkout): tier name, price per billing period, billing frequency (weekly / monthly / semi-annually), auto-renewal behavior, and cancellation mechanism. Checkout on Lemon Squeezy's hosted page re-displays these terms immediately before charge.
- Auto-renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You authorize recurring charges to your payment method on file. Lemon Squeezy sends an email receipt for each renewal charge to the email address on your account.
- Pre-renewal notice: For the semi-annual Astroloy tier, Lemon Squeezy sends an advance renewal reminder to your account email before the renewal charge is processed (per Lemon Squeezy's merchant policies). Weekly and monthly renewals are announced on your account's Lemon Squeezy dashboard; the short renewal interval means advance email notice is not always sent. You may opt into additional reminder emails via the portal.
- Cancellation — how to cancel: (1) Sign in to your Lemon Squeezy customer portal at jobanvil.lemonsqueezy.com using the email address on your order; (2) select the active subscription; (3) choose "Cancel subscription" and confirm. Cancellation stops future charges and takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain full access until then. You may also email hello@jobanvil.io with your order ID and we will process the cancellation within 3 business days.
- Refunds: Subscription payments are non-refundable except where required by applicable law. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact hello@jobanvil.io within 14 days of the charge.
- Price changes: We may change subscription pricing. If we change the price of your active tier, we will send email notice at least 14 days before the new price applies to your next renewal. If you do not cancel before that renewal, you are charged the new price; continued use constitutes acceptance.
3. Third-Party Services
JobAnvil integrates with third-party services that have their own terms:
- AI Providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Mistral, Groq): JobAnvil can reach AI providers in two ways. BYOK (Bring Your Own Key): you supply your own API key; you are responsible for compliance with the provider's terms and acceptable use policy, and for managing your own billing — JobAnvil LLC is not responsible for charges incurred. Managed AI (Spark, Crucible, Astroloy subscribers): AI calls are routed through an JobAnvil LLC proxy on your behalf; you are still bound by the underlying provider's acceptable use policy, and AI usage costs are included in your subscription.
- Email Providers (Gmail, personal Microsoft, iCloud, Yahoo, IMAP): You authorize JobAnvil to access your email. You are responsible for complying with your email provider's terms of service.
- Job Boards (Greenhouse, Lever, RSS): JobAnvil accesses publicly available job listing data. Available on all tiers including Free.
- Job boards via browser extension (LinkedIn, Indeed, Greenhouse, Lever, Workday): The optional browser extension captures job listing details from supported job boards and can import your LinkedIn profile text. You are responsible for complying with each platform's terms of service. LinkedIn profile import uses LinkedIn's session cookie transiently to authenticate API requests — you must be logged in to LinkedIn for this to function.
- Workday: JobAnvil can retrieve listings from Workday career pages using an undocumented internal API. This may not be sanctioned by Workday. By enabling Workday feeds, you accept the risk that this access could be restricted or could violate Workday's terms.
4. AI Costs
If you use BYOK (your own API key), you are solely responsible for all API charges incurred by your usage. Typical daily usage costs a few cents, but costs vary by provider, model, and volume — monitor your provider's billing dashboard.
If you are on the Spark, Crucible, or Astroloy tier and use Managed AI, AI costs are included in your subscription. No separate API key is required, and no additional AI charges will be billed to you directly.
5. Data and Privacy
All data stays on your computer. See our Privacy Policy for details on what data is accessed and how it is protected, including §11 of that policy covering transactional emails and marketing consent.
6. No Warranty
JobAnvil is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that job listings are accurate, complete, or current; that AI-generated content is correct or suitable; or that the software will operate without interruption or error.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, JobAnvil LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of JobAnvil, including but not limited to: lost job opportunities, incorrect AI assessments, third-party API charges, or data loss. Our total liability shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $10 USD.
8. Code Signing and Authenticity
JobAnvil installers and executables are digitally signed using Azure Trusted Signing to verify authenticity. The signing process transmits only a cryptographic hash of the binary to Microsoft's signing service — no personal data or application content is involved.
9. Updates
JobAnvil checks for updates automatically. Application updates are provided at no additional charge to every active tier (Trial, Free, Spark, Crucible, and Astroloy) for as long as JobAnvil LLC continues to publish updates to the product. There is no perpetual license: your right to use the product ends when your active tier ends (when a subscription lapses, for example, access reverts to the Free tier). We may change features, add integrations, or modify pricing for future versions. JobAnvil LLC reserves the right to require mandatory updates at any time and for any reason, including but not limited to security vulnerabilities, critical bugs, or business requirements. Mandatory updates may be enforced by blocking older versions from operating. Continued use of JobAnvil constitutes acceptance of the then-current version.
10. Termination
You may stop using JobAnvil at any time by uninstalling it. Cancelling a subscription ends recurring billing at the next renewal; you retain access until the period you paid for expires. We may revoke a license key if we determine it was obtained fraudulently or is being shared in violation of these terms.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be noted in release notes. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
